Charities that Support Flight Attendants...can use your help!
There are three very worthy charities that have the objective of supporting flight attendants in need.
The AFA-CWA Disaster Relief Fund delivers immediate cash assistance to AFA members and retirees who have suffered significant damage to and/or relocation from their primary residence as a result of a declared national disaster. Since its beginning in fall of 2001, it has provided support in the aftermath of many large-scale disasters, both natural and man-made. The web address is www.afacwa.org/disaster_relief_fund. (That is underscoring between the last three words.) You may make a donation online or by sending a check to AFA-CWA Disaster Relief Fund, Att. International Secretary/Treasurer, 501 Third Street NW, Washington, DC 20001.
If you are a retiree who wishes to request disaster relief, you may use that same web page to apply for funds.
The CAUSE Foundation makes grants to United flight attendants, both s-UA and s-CO, who are unable to work due to illness, injury, or disability. CAUSE (which stands for Concerned Attendants for a United Support Effort) is an army of volunteers with only one paid employee, and all requests are kept in the strictest confidence. At their website, www.thecausefoundation.org, you will find more information as well as how to donate.
The United We Care Employee Relief Fund makes confidential grants to United employees and retirees needing basic assistance unavailable through other resources. Donations may be made by employees via payroll deduction, credit card or check. Retirees may donate via credit card or check. More information is available on Flying Together by clicking HERE. Should you choose to support these organizations, please know all donations are tax deductible.
